Within the confines of sales profession, we are living in a very exciting period of transition. Automation and eCommerce are piped to take over sales individuals who are tagged as facilitators and order takers. This set of individuals are at a 3-way cross road - do nothing and face obsolete, morph into inside sales, or develop into business consultants.

We wrote more about this 2 weeks ago with reports from Forrester and the chart from Neil Rackham.

If you are still choosing to ignore about digital and how it impacts your business, here are 3 drivers of digital transformation that could make you reconsider and see things from a different perspective :

SOCIAL & ALL THINGS DIGITAL

There are various websites that post real time updates on the explosion of social media usage. One of them is Visually that shows a real time dashboard of information being shared on social platforms. In addition to this, the dashboard includes online transactions, video shares, online movies watched and messages exchanged.

Another great source is Internet Live Stats. This sites offers live updates on emails sent, new websites, number of internet users and many more.

MOBILE

The rise of smart phones seems to be climbing an endless summit. In fact, Statista reported that mobile users are expected to reach 4.77 billion as compared to 4 billion 4 years ago. This is expected to rise further to 5.07 billion by year 2019.

Dealsunny.com offers an interesting look at real time information on smartphone sales and other interesting statistics.

CLOUD

Cloud adoption is no new kid on the block, but with catalysts in mobile, social and a few other factors, the stage is set for strong cloud adoption in years to come. IDC estimates that spending on public cloud Infrastructure as a Service hardware and software is forecasted to reach $38B, growing to $173B in 2026. SaaS and PaaS portion of cloud hardware and infrastructure software spending are projected to reach $12B in 2016, growing to $55B in 2026.

Digital is poised to give us a run after the money, if we decide to transform from status quo. The above research reports and findings amplify the reasons why we can't ignore digital transformation. But if the above reasons isn't strong enough for you to make a change, nothing will.
